This was my first ever historical dress, which I made for the SCA back in... about 2002 or so. It's a very basic kirtle style dress, modelled after a dress which I borrowed from the group when I first attended events.

Fabric: Cotton drill
Construction
Erm... I sort of pulled off all of the buttons and trim, as I'm wanted to dye the fabric a dark blue. Maybe. Or retrim the gown to make it look nicer. It is made out of cotton drill, in an awful olive green colour. Don't ask what I was thinking when I bought it, but I swear they use trick lighting in the fabric stores. Bastards. So basically, there will be no photos until I get around to putting it back together again. Ha.
I did this ages ago, so I can't even remember all of the details. Very basically, it's a long kirtle dress, straight sleeved. It's made of four pieces; two front, two back with front lacing. The sleeves are narrow and straight, with buttons from the wrist and almost to the elbow. The skirt flares at the hips. Very simple, practical and great for a quick first historical garb.
