This was the first gown I made for the NVG. It was a bit of a rushed one, but turned out okay considering. I admit I didn't do much research with this one, only relied on other people's direction, so I can't vouch for it's authenticity.

Fabric & Materials

Tunic Dress: 100% green linen
Apron: red wool/cashmere blend
Belt: black leather strip and silver buckle with rivets and a brown leather belt (bought)

Construction

The green underdress is just a basic tunic dress, made of linen. The sleeves are flared, the neckline is split. The apron is a heavy wool/cashmere blend, two pieces and joined at the shoulders. There are a lot of resources around on making tunics etc, so I'm not going to put up the details.

I also made a belt which is really simple, just bought a buckle, went down to the leather store and asked for a belt strip to be cut to fit. A couple of hole punches and rivets later, it was done. I later bought a brown belt (as shown in the photos).

I also bought some Viking replica brooches from Birka Traders to finish the entire outfit off. The brooches pin the apron together, just under the arms. The apron was also finished with some chain stitched embroidery along the bottom.
