This dress was made for a Costumers' Guild event, which was a 1940's dinner dance. I used Vintage Vogue pattern #V2786. With the pattern, the construction was relatively straight forward. I didn't need the zipper included in the pattern, because I found the dress went low enough down at the front and back to allow easy putting on and taking off. Cutting thin, slippery fabrics like the silk is one of the most time consuming parts, so I bought a circular blade to cut with, which is a nifty tool. It makes cutting much easier than with scissors.

Fabric & Materials

The dress is a wine coloured silk crepe de chine, which I ordered from Denver Fabrics, on sale. The fabric is very thin and a little see through, so it's fully lined with the same fabric.
